Leaving a Legacy…and Getting Sweaty

Hi Friends & Family of The Retreat –

There is a project that I have been working on that is near and dear to my heart and I want to share it with you.

I was once asked what I would like to leave behind. As in – what do I want my impact on this world to be? What do I want to be remembered for when I die? Aside from the business I’ve spent 30+ years creating and my family (of course), what really matters to me? Here is what I answered:

I want to be a part of creating beautiful spaces for people to spend time outside. For me, it is the sunshine and the fresh air and simple places in nature that adds depth and breadth and meaningful dimension to our lives.

Once I had that revelation, I discovered the Comal Trails Allaince whose mission is to create a system of trails connecting communities and providing opportunities for education, health, and enjoyment of the natural resources located within Comal County. It is just the most wonderful organization that works so hard to make spaces like Panther Canyon more functional. (It is now a loop, if you haven’t been hiking in a while). We are also working very hard on Dry Comal Creek trails by removing invasive species and making improvements to create more functional hike and bike trails.

The First Annual Sweaty Yeti Trail Run

The news I want to share with you is about our upcoming race: The Sweaty Yeti 5k Trail Run. It is the first of its kind in New Braunfels starting in Landa Park and running up Panther Canyon. This event is driven by our love for the outdoors, hiking, running, and mostly TRAILS! All proceeds go to support our projects.

There are tax deductible supporter and sponsorship opportunities available, as well as spots to join us in this great fun trail run. The race will be on Saturday March 23rd starting at 8:00. First place prize – a Yeti cooler!

For more information on sponsorship, please visit www.comaltrails.org/yeti

Our fabulous Retreat employees will be participating (please note, The Retreat will be closed until 11:00 that day). Our team and I would love it if you could join us!

With love & sunshine,

Laurie Espil Goode
